Accountable Care Organization (ACO). A collection of medical practices and specialties, inter-referring patients between offices, with a primary care (family practice, etc) "Medical Home" as a center spoke.

Accountable Care Organization. A new payer structure under Medicare. Collaboration between a hospital and the surrounding "virtual extended staff" that refer or work with the same patients. Minimum of 5,000 Beneficiaries are assigned to the ACO to treat the patient in early stages of illness before it becomes a hospital-admitable condition, where costs are at their highest.
